Rome 2: Total War

Published on July 13, 2012, by in PC Games, Previews.

The Total War series has always been one of my favorite game series for the PC. Being a fan of both real time and turn based strategy, on top of a Risk fanatic, has made the Total War series a complete classic in my book. I have played Medieval, Medieval II, Shogun II, and of course Rome Total War. They have made ancient warfare such  an art form that Sun Tzu would truely be proud. Of all the games, none have captured my attention, dedication, praise, and hours of my life as the first Rome Total War. After The better

Gamers Nostalgia: Freespace 2

Published on July 10, 2012, by in Editorial, PC Games.

The first in what I hope to be a weekly article, Gamers Nostalgia is a look back on the games of yesteryears. An old CD (or perhaps even a floppy, if you have such a drive anymore) that might be worth dusting off and taking a second look at. This week, we take a look back on one of my personal favorites, dating back to 1999. Yes that’s right, it was the year we thought would be our last, when Y2K would set off an apocalypse and we were all supposed to party like a Prince song said we

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters DLC

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is Dice’s second full expansion to the Battlefield 3 game. Unlike Back to Karkand, Close Quarters cuts down on the map sizes considerabley. Like the title of the expansion expresses, the game play is all in a knife fight range, something that is a bit odd for a battlefield game. This largely seems like an attempt to compete with other small scale multiplayer games such as it’s biggest competitor, Modern Warfare. The server size has dwindled, for instance there are only 16 players allowed on a CQ match for Xbox 360 (a bit more for PC).

Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut Next Week

Warning: Minor Spoilers Ahead! If you have not yet completed Mass Effect 3, you may not want to continue. This year’s Mass Effect 3 was a fantastic 25-40 hour epic game that concluded a 3 game saga, and in the opinion of some players was marred by the last 5 minutes. The fan outcry was so loud that the developers have gone back and redeveloped the ending. While they have already stated that this will not completely change the endings or add new ones, it is meant to build on them and explain some things that had us screaming “WTF?” at our TV

Battlefield 3 Premium Impressions

Love it or hate it, game companies are finding new and ingenious ways to take more of your hard earned cash after you have purchased the inital game. Expansion packs are nothing new to PC gamers and they shouldn’t be to console owners at this point either. Battlefield 3, like many other games before it, has announced a list of expansion DLCs coming out over the course of the next year. Unsuprisingly, like the Call of Duty series, Dice has decided to offer all the upcoming expansions for a lower price, purchased all at once. Very much like Modern Warfare’s Elite mode,

New Puzzler: Quantum Conudrum

From one of the creators of the beloved Portal series comes, Quantum Conundrum. Available July 10th on the Playstation Network and July 11th on Xbox Live and Steam. From the looks of it, Quantum Conundrum appears to have the same quirky sense of humor, brain twising puzzles, and physics-breaking gameplay as it’s spiritual predecessor. Playing as a young lad trying to find his crazy scientist Uncle Professor Fitz Quadwrangle (although, it could very well be Dr. Emmett Brown), you don a special quantum glove called an Interdimensional Shift Device that allows you to bounce between dimensions. Each dimension changes the physics of the world around you, for
