Mechwarrior Online Starts ‘Founder’s Program’

Published on June 19, 2012, by in PC Games, Previews.

The Mechwarrior Online team at Piranha Games annouced today that they are starting a founder’s program that will give those willing to put some money down early access and in game items. Mechwarrior Online is a premium Free-To-Play game which is promising to deliver an excellent multiplayer experience.  Founders will get in game money, premium  account time, and the ability to start playing on 7/12/2012. I kind of sort of remember playing old Mechwarrior games, possibly in MS DOS.. its been a long time and I don’t remember how the games played all that well. Going from memory, I remember the games being somewhat ‘Sim’

Video: GW2 Lions Arch Jump Puzzle

Here I take a moment to jump my way through the Lions Arch jump puzzle during the Guild Wars 2 BWE2 event. I actually tried to find more of these as I explored the world and came up short (only found this one). The puzzles are scattered throughout the world and are not always all that intuitive. Many times they give rewards (usually skill points). Its great to have little bonuses like this in the world. I love finding stuff like this. Thing is they aren’t all that easy to find.. they are there though.. I plan on finding more of these next

Tribes: Ascend – A Fresh Perspective

I am proud to introduce to Postgamer.net, our brand new female contributor/correspondent MurderBoner. In this article, she discusses her first impressions of Tribes: Ascend and the switch of gaming on a console to a PC. I haven’t played a PC first person shooter since Half Life so my “skills” are a little rusty. I traditionally play console games, so I guess there is a learning curve when transitioning from a controller to keyboard. I enjoyed the science fiction setting of the game even though it is not a new concept. I prefer the sci fi genre over realistic warfare games such

Tera Online Starts 7 Day Free Trials

Published on June 15, 2012, by in PC Games.

Those of you who have been thinking about trying out Tera Online are in luck. En Masse Entertainment has decided to allow players to try the game for 7 days. I personally got my fill of this game in the open beta weekend before launch. Its worth a look if you have never played or if you are curious what an action mmo plays like.   According to the Tera Blog there will be some limitations to free trial players:   There are a few play limitations in the TERA 7 Day Trial. Chat restrictions: Area chat Bargaining at

Max Payne 3 : Living in a Cheaters Paradise (not really)

Max Payne 3′s Cheaters Will Be Forced To Fight Against Each other Rockstar games announced on a blog post this week that their new game, Max Payne 3, would have an interesting method of handling multiplayer cheaters. Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a “Cheaters Pool”, where they’ll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants. In the event we decide to absolve any of these cheaters for their past

Tribes Ascend “Accelerate Update” Brings Big Change

Published on June 14, 2012, by in PC Games, Videos.

Good news for Tibes fans, the new “Accelerate Update” brings a ton of new items and changes up the mechanics of how items are earned. I’m glad they decided to do this, Hi-Res has been loyal to the fan base throughout development and has taken the fans opinions to heart. I hadent really known much about Hi-Res before Tribes came out, but I have come to respect these guys for brining a quality free-to-play game with a fair cash shop. So whats new? Remember those long XP grinds for new weapon unlocks? Those are a thing of the past now. Weapon

Video: Guild Wars 2 Small Group / Solo PVE

I took a bunch of new Guild Wars 2 footage this weekend, and over the next week or two I plan on sprinkling these onto my youtube channel. In this video I complete the Kessiks Hills map by getting the last skill point that I needed. I really like the solo/small group combat in this game, its much more active and involved than most mmo’s that I have played. The way combat feels does seem to change a lot as the size of your group grows. There are times when it seems to work great , and others where it

Valve Teams Up with Shane Acker for Upcoming Film “DEEP”

Published on June 11, 2012, by in Movies, PC Games, Previews.

Shane Acker, the writer and director behind Focus Features’ outstanding animated flick, 9, hasn’t been in the limelight for a number of years. Slipping away to work on various projects from a technical standpoint, Acker is responsible for some of the high end visual effects for “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and the upcoming “Total Recall” reboot (which looks amazing but depresses the crap out of me for reasons I will not get into here). Recently Brown Bag Films (a highly successful Irish animation studio) announced in a press release, that they are currently working on a new animated film

Hawken: An Upcoming Free-To-Play Mech Shooter

Published on June 8, 2012, by in PC Games, Previews.

We here at Postgamer.net are huge free-to-play fans, as you have probably noticed. We try to get down on anything and everything free-to-play for several reasons. The foremost is, it’s frickin’ free man! Alternatively, we see the pay as you play structure of gaming as a serious contender for the future of gaming in general. Especially for the multi-player game scene. In the upcoming week, we will be highlighting a ton of games from E3. A profound number of which are free-to-play. The first game I wanted to introduce is the much-anticipated Hawken. Since I wasn’t able to attend E3, I think a
